I sent your letter to a few friends whose children are grown because I knew they would like the intimacy and truthfulness of your beautiful gift to Boo.
I add my congratulations to your daughter! I just watched 129 8th graders move up this evening. I remember when your “Boo”did that! I was proud of her then and proud of her now
I remember the feeling, 24 years ago. He got into the school we all wanted, four states away. As the time to leave got closer I started thinking, “He doesn’t have to go. He could live at home, go to community college.” I was shocked that I’d even think it! LOL But he’s our only one, so maybe that was part of it.
Boo sounds like a lovely young woman - congratulations!
You have me in tears. As a mom of a now 37 year old daughter, I still remember the high school to college transition. Just wait until the wedding. 😬 Love your writing, Kimmery!

I love this so much and I too am crying. Your daughter could be my daughter, so many similarities. My “boo” is seven. ❤️

What a lovely essay, and what a wonderful young woman you have brought into the world.
Love and congratulations to my daughter and granddaughter and all the generations of women behind us who have gone out and done good 😘🤗🥰
